The story of Bloom & Root began in Hong Kong in 2019.
When founder Alice Mak created Bloom & Root, it didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with something much simpler, a desire to care for the people she loved through the goodness of natural botanicals.
It was the beginning of the pandemic, a time filled with uncertainty. Alice’s father-in-law was running a traditional Chinese medicine shop in Hong Kong, and through her family’s years of knowledge and experience with Chinese herbs and natural ingredients, they began thoughtfully selecting botanicals to create wellness blends.
At first, these blends were simply made for family and friends, a small gesture of care, bringing a little comfort and reassurance during an unfamiliar time.
But that small gesture began to grow.
As more friends discovered and shared the blends, what started with traditional botanicals gradually expanded into flowers, fruits, and beautifully crafted wellness drinks.
Along the way, Alice discovered something that would become the heart of Bloom & Root: traditional botanical wisdom does not have to feel complicated or belong only to the past.
It can be experienced in a way that feels simpler, more beautiful, and more meaningful to modern life.
Years later, Alice moved from Hong Kong to Canada.
The place changed. The purpose never did.
Bloom & Root found new roots in Canada, bringing Eastern-inspired botanical wellness into a modern way of living. Through flowers, fruits, and thoughtfully selected natural ingredients, each collection is created to bring together quality, beauty, and a small sense of ritual in everyday life.

Bloom represents growth, new beginnings, and the beautiful transformations we experience throughout life.
Root represents where we come from our heritage, our values, and the reason we began in the first place.
From Hong Kong in 2019 to putting down new roots in Canada today, Alice hopes Bloom & Root will continue to grow and find its way into more homes, more meaningful moments, and more lives.
But no matter how far the brand grows, one thing will always remain at its heart:
the simple desire to care for the people around us.
That was where Bloom & Root began.
And that will always be its root.
